E-book readers aren't that fat to start off with in the first place, but then again the same can be said about flat display TVs, where the mad race for the title of the "world's thinnest" has been going on for quite some time already. The competition for such a title in the world of e-book readers isn't that cut-throat, but that doesn't mean an attempt cannot be made. Bookeen has kicked off their claim to this throne with the Orizon device, measuring a mere 0.29-inches thin after passing through the FCC's hoops recently. It will come with a 6-inch SiPix ePaper display at 600 x 800 resolution, carry 2GB of internal memory, supports a microSD memory card for expansion purposes, plays nice with Adobe's ePUB format while delivering access to Google books among other eBook sources. For $249 a pop, you can choose from black or white colors. Anything thinner and you'd probably wish it will come with a Gorilla Glass, otherwise it will seem all too fragile.
