Making a custom ringtone is easy

GarageBand

While playing about in the new GarageBand '11 recently I stumbled upon the ringtone creator. This got me thinking about making a new ringtone for my iPhone, and after messing about with the free loops that Apple provides for, oooh... about 5 minutes, I'd created the world's most awesome ringtone ever. But how to get it onto my phone?

It turns out it's a bit fiddly, but not impossible. First you need to drag the file onto your desktop, then rename it so the extension is .m4r. Now, when you double-click on it iTunes identifies it as a ringtone and loads it into the Ringtones section of your Library. It will now be available in the Ringtones tab of your iPhone syncing preferences.

Anyway, here's my masterpiece for you all to enjoy, because, I know you're just dying to hear what I created, right? Let me know what you think of my musical efforts!

(If you click that link and get a page of text, go back, right-click it and choose 'Save Linked File As...' - it does different things in different browsers)
