The Go! Team: Rolling Blackouts ? review

(Memphis Industries)

Having begun life as an exercise in perky sound-collage, Brightonians the Go! Team have grown into a 12-legged musical beast keen to muster brass bands and gospel choirs to their cause. Their third album is their most organic yet, transposing GT's indie hip-hop party into a new vernacular: old-skool rhymes ? such as "Apollo Throwdown" ? laced with glockenspiels. This is unfailingly ebullient, at odds with anything else out there, and guests such as Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino keep things fresh. But you can't help thinking it might not be intended for grown-ups.
