It would be hard to protest that Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is officially not only a holiday classic, but the most important addition to the Christmas carol canon by any living artist (sorry, Smash Mouth). So you can consider Mariah part of your holiday season now.Less difficult to prove is that Mimi (that's her nickname -- we're friends) can't produce another holiday classic, as witnessed by her mediocre holiday-themed follow-up and its first single, "Oh Santa!" Reason being: she's morphed from a politely flirtatious vocal powerhouse into an oversexed lady-tween who refuses to sing in any other style than "sexy baby" (oh, and she's married to, like, the King of Nickelodeon or something, and she's carrying his baby).
Not just one, but two videos surfaced this week of Mariah, reveling in the holiday spirit, the first a mashup by mashup master Rich (at FourFour) of Mimi on HSN, shilling some crap and complaining endlessly about being preggo. The second is a clip from her duet with her mom, former opera singer Patricia, on "Oh Come All Ye Faithful / Hallelujah Chorus," where she totally upstages Mama in true VH1 DIVA fashion (don't get me wrong: she can still saaaang).
Girl's got some jingle balls, that's for sure.
