Just days after a video of him panhandling at the side of the road hit the internet, Ted Williams has become an internet sensation and national news story. This morning, he got to kick off NBC's Today Show with his now-famous "golden voice" and then sit down for an interview with Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira.The focus of the interview was obviously how crazy and cool it is that America has rallied around Ted so quickly this week, but Matt Lauer doesn't hesitate to express his concerns re: Ted being prepared for all of the attention.
Ted seems confident that he'll be able to navigate his career once all of the shock of being discovered wears off. He attributes his second chance and his positive outlook to "a new sense of spirituality" he's found in the years since he's been clean, and says he's prepared to do things right this time.
While it's still not clear whether he'll be accepting the Cleveland Caveliers' full-time job offer, he did confirm that he'll be recording a spot for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese later this afternoon.
Way to go, Ted!
