Microsoft Touch Mouse unveiled

Microsoft lifted the lid on an interesting new mouse in January 2011. The Microsoft Touch Mouse is described as ?the new multitouch mouse for Windows 7 that will let you click, flick, scroll and swipe so it's easy and fun to interact with your PC?. Featuring Microsoft's impressive BlueTrack technology, Touch Mouse ?combines the virtues of a mouse with the rich natural language of gesture?.

The surface of Touch Mouse is made up ofa matrix of capacitive touch-sensing electrodes that track the position of the user's fingertips. One-, two- and three-fingered gestures are catered for, as are flick scrolling, minimising/maximising windows and task switching. It all sounds very impressive, but we can't help thinking we've seen it all before. Where Apple goes, others follow.

Microsoft's Touch Mouse is due for release in May 2011. Read all about it here.
